Red Star managed to qualify for the elite European competitions both in football and basketball, so Belgrade will host top sports events.

Belgrade and Red Star shining brightly

Last year, the news that Red Star managed to qualify for the elite European competition really sounded sensational. However, doing it once again truly represents the ultimate success of a major Serbian and European club that has been neglected for the past two decades, marginalized and at the bottom, all because of the well-known misfortunes that have dominated this region.

Red Star used to personify so many bad things and decisions from 1990s, and that’s why its success in two most popular sports is becoming more significant than ever.

Speaking of "the most important side thing in the world", Red Star football club will once again host some of the best European clubs. Rajko Mitic Stadium will be a gathering place for players of phenomenal Bayern, and there will also be a representative of the famous Premier League Tottenham, who will fly in here with its strongest names due to the current situation in England and with a great desire to take all three points in away match.

Red Star has already played two games, one in Munich where it expectedly lost to an incredible football machinery called Bayern, while the other one was played in Belgrade, hosting its „brother-team“. This was a very important victory for Red Star, which opens many hopes and opportunities not only for the club, but for the whole community of football clubs in Serbia, taking into account new quotas that will be used in determining the number of teams eligible to play in elite European competitions.

However, football is not the only sport in which the biggest Serbian club is thriving this year. Thus, Red Star basketball club managed to qualify for and play in the elite European basketball competition - Euroleague, so Belgrade will have the pleasure of hosting the greats of the old continent in this sport, which is traditionally a favourite one in Serbia.

So the Serbian capital will have the opportunity to host some of the biggest names in European and world basketball and some of the greatest basketball clubs in the world this winter. In October, Belgrade will welcome the Turkish Fenerbahce, great Barcelona, Khimki from Russia, and by the end of the year, we will see Real Madrid, Lyon, Valencia, Baskonia, and Olympiacos once again – this time for a basketball duel. Early next year, Belgrade will host Bayern (and we hope the result will be better than in football), Žalgiris, Alba, Anadolu Efes, Panathinaikos, CSK, Maccabi, Milan and Zenit.

Due to so many fantastic sports competitions in the two most popular sports in this area, it is reasonable to expect the Belgrade will be swarmed with tourists from the region, Europe and all around the globe. Bear in mind that some of these matches will take place immediately before or after the New Year, the holiday that traditionally attracts so many foreign tourists to Belgrade. That’s why we from Novi apartmani are inviting you to find and book an appropriate apartment on time. You won’t be wrong with any of the area that you choose as locations of sports venues are all well-connected. However, if you’re planning to attend the matches at Rajko Mitic stadium, we suggest that you check out some of the apartments in the sections Vračar and Strict center, and if you prefer basketball, perhaps New Belgrade can be ideal for you.

At the end, we can just wish Red Star so much success in competitions, and hopefully, Belgrade visitors will enjoy in sports events and the charms of the Serbian capital.
