The final round of the most prestigious and most important European basketball competition will be held in Belgrade, the genuine basketball capital of Europe.

Final four Euroleague 2018 in Belgrade

From 18-20 May, Belgrade will turn into a heart of European basketball as during this period the Stark Arena will host the famous elite competition – Euroleague Final Four, the final round of the most prestigious and most important European basketball competition.

Stark Arena, the biggest multi-functional indoor facility in the region is proud to be hosting such a major sports event. From its very first days, Arena has been hosting some of the grandest world sports events, so the Final Four is yet another great challenge, placed in the hands of skillful organisers.

Belgrade is just the right choice for such an event, not only for its fantastic sports hall, but primarily for the fact that basketball in Belgrade is the way of life. In addition to football, basketball is by far the most popular sport in Serbia. This unique relationship between basketball and Belgrade came to life long ago, when the first basketball courts were constructed at Kalemegdan fortress in 1946. Since then, some magic things and moments have happened which proved that basketball is the sport deeply rooted in the genes of the Serbian people. There are so many gold medals at World, Olympic and European championships, won by former SFRY and successive national teams, and they confirm the importance and quality of the so-called Yugoslav school of basketball, which today lives in all the former SFRY states, and to be honest, in the last 20 years predominantly in Serbia.

While we were preparing this text, two teams have just booked their tickets to Belgrade – the current champion Fenerbahce, headed by coach Zeljko Obradovic, made another victory against Baskonia for a series of 3:1, and the other one is Zalgiris that was a pleasant surprise as the team eliminated the famous Olympiacos, and booked its place in Euroleague Final Four, for the first time in club history. We just need to wait for the remaining two teams, so we will be watching the exciting 1/8 final pairs CSKA-Khimki and Panathinaikos-Real Madrid.

Unfortunately, there will be no Serbian teams at this event, however, the organisers are expecting huge crowd at the matches, as Belgrade is all about good basketball. So, hurry up and book your accommodation on time, on the web site noviapartmani.com. If you’re planning to visit Belgrade for Final Four, we suggest that you check out the section New Belgrade first and you could also see the availability in A Blok Savada and Belvil, as in this case Stark Arena will be in your neighbourhood. Also, don’t forget to check out some other parts of the city for accommodation, such as Strict center, Dorćol, or Slavija as there is superb connection from these parts of the city with Stark Arena.

See you in the capital of basketball !!!
