60 years of the first appearance of the famous agent

Movies about James Bond, the British secret service agent with a code name "007" are considered part of the general culture and history of cinematography, whether you are a fan of them or not.
James Bond is the main character in the series of novels written by Ian Fleming and was first screened in 1962 with the film "Doctor No" with Sean Connery in the lead role.
Agent 007 is known as a womanizer, a passionate lover of cars, drinks and cigarettes.

In the 26 films made so far, Bond's character has been played by 6 different actors, and there is an interesting fact that may be very important for us. Allegedly, the character that served as Fleming's inspiration is Duško Popov, a Serbian spy from the Second World War, a double agent who shared almost all (real) traits of agent "007".

The first James Bond was Sean Connery. He starred in five more films about Agent 007: From Russia with Love (1963), Goldfinger (1964), Thunderball (1965), You Only Live Twice (1967) and Diamonds Are Forever (1971).

„On Her Majesty's Secret Service", from 1969, is the only appearance of the Australian actor George Lazenby in the role of Bond.

From 1973 begins the era of Roger Moore, who appears in this role 7 times: "Live and Let Die" (1973), "The Man with the Golden Gun" (1974), "The Spy Who Loved Me" (1977), "Moonraker" (1979), "For Your Eyes Only" (1981), "Octopussy" (1983) and "View to a Kill" (1985).

Timothy Dalton is the next "007" who entered the history of Bond and world filmography with two films: "The Living Daylights" (1987) and "License to Kill" (1989). An interesting fact is that Mel Gibson was also being considered for the role of the famous agent in „The Living Daylights“, but was finally rejected because he is not British (probably after an attempt with George Lazenby).

Timothy Dalton was succeeded by Pierce Brosnan, who played the famous secret agent in four films: "Golden Eye" (1995), "Tomorrow Never Dies" (1997), "The World Is Not Enough" (1999) and "Die Another Day" (2001).

After Brosnan comes the era of Daniel Craig, the blonde-haired Bond who in the beginning was given little chance to succeed, but who eventually recorded 5 excellent movie achievements. With the film "No Time to Die" from 2021, Craig ended his era in the series, while before that he played the role of Bond in the films: "Casino Royale" (2006), "A Quantum of Solace" (2008), "Skyfall" (2012) and "Spectre" (2015).

It will be recorded that Craig was very self-sacrificing, so while in the role of Agent 007 he injured his right shoulder, both knees and thumb, but he was also the first actor in the role of Bond to be nominated for the British Academy Award. And speaking of awards, Skyfall is the first Bond film to win an Oscar thanks to its soundtrack and title track sung by Adele. The film was nominated for 4 Oscars, of which he won two.

The name of the next actor who will take on the role of Bond is not yet revealed. Rumors of a dark-skinned Bond and even a female version of Bond have been present in the media and on social media, but these are mere predictions.

When we talk about the James Bond series, we also have to mention the Bond girls. Starting with Ursula Andres, through Lana Wood, the first dark-skinned Bond girl Halle Berry and Olga Kirilenko, all the way to Lea Seydoux - all these actresses are famous for their extraordinary beauty and sex appeal whose charms, as a rule, even agent "007" could not resist and often it was because of these girls that he got into infamous, almost hopeless situations.

We from Novi apartmani are great fans of James Bond’s character and we are anxious to see the next film in the series, not only because of the film itself, but also because we want to see who will be the next Bond and how he will portray the role.
Until then, we will enjoy some of the old films from this famous series that we’ve already seen dozens of times.

For the end, one more trivia! During these 60 years, James Bond has killed a total of 597 villains and criminals!

There’s no one like James Bond!
