Summer on Belgrade streets can sometimes be quite exhausting. So, you’ve been already to the city's beaches several times and walked along Košutnjak forest, Zvezdarska forest and other green havens in the city? Now is the time to visit nice picnic spots near Belgrade, which will allow you to relax and fully enjoy a hot summer day, surrounded by nothing but nature. We have already mentioned some of these picnic spots in Novi apartmani blog section and we will try to describe some places here that we have not yet presented.

01 LJUBIČEVO HORSE STABLE

Just 100 kilometers from Belgrade, near the city of Požarevac, you can find Ljubičevo horse stable. It is one of the oldest stables in Serbia, founded in 1860 by Prince Miloš Obrenović with the aim of improving horse breeding from the best horse breeds. His son Mihailo later named this 300-hectare estate "Ljubičevo", after his mother, Princess Ljubica. In Ljubičevo, Ljubica's lodge was built, as well as several stables where the prince kept his horses. Early in the 20th century, the stable grew to become an institution of European rank and had about 500 heads. For weekend hikers in this location, we recommend the trails where you can come across horses, which you can pet freely and there is also an Adventure Park for children from 5 to 12 years of age who will love this enjoyable activity.

02 ZASAVICA RESERVE

This unique nature reserve covers 1,825 hectares and is home to over 600 different plant species. Enjoyment, recreation, boat-riding, observation and study of nature today appeals to so many visitors of this reserve, so Zasavica is more and more often recognized on maps as a place that every lover and admirer of nature simply has to visit when visiting Serbia. The greenery, forests and water areas are an ideal place for you to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city, and there are also specialized places where you can enjoy authentic and world-famous gourmet cuisine from Zasavica.

03 RAM FORTRESS

A short trip to Ram Fortress is also a good recommendation. This fortress was built by the Ottoman Empire in 1483. Inside the fortress there is a circular Byzantine building, which is assumed to have had a sacred character. Inside the fortress, visitors will be able to see the towers as well as observation decks that connect them, with an incredible panorama of the Danube that will simply take your breath away. Worth noting is that there is an organized parking lot in front of the fortress, while everything inside the fortress is marked, and there are also maps that you get with the purchased tickets. Also, most of the facilities are accessible to parents with baby carriages, except for the towers and viewpoints, of course, which are reached by steep and very narrow stairs.

04 ZABRAN FOREST

 Zabran picnic area is located on the banks of the Sava River and is one of the most popular picnic areas in Obrenovac. Zabran is a very popular place among visitors and was named after the deciduous forest located there. Through the forest there stretches a 1.5 km modern running trail made of gravel and paved bricks with exercise stations, ideal for all recreational athletes. Also, picnic areas with covered benches and tables can be found throughout the forest, where picnickers can also have a barbecue. For nature lovers, here, in addition to walking and recreation in the forest, you can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the Sava River, next to which there is a path and a beach with showers and pontoons. Fishing here is allowed, so this place can be interesting for fishing lovers.

05 KABINET BREWERY ON KOSMAJ MOUNTAIN

Only 50 kilometers from the center of Belgrade, in the village of Nemenikuće on Kosmaj mountain, there is a manufacturing plant of the now famous "Kabinet" brewery, which also has its own, specifically designated room for beer tasting. A perfect view, a picnic on the grass with fantastic food and the well-known beer is a perfect list of reasons to visit this brewery. This unique beer-drinking paradise will definitely change your hot summer day and the good thing is that it can be reached very quickly. Make sure you book the place in advance, because on weekends this is the only way to actually get there, due to the great popularity of this place.
